And Then There’s Jac…

It’s been a while since I’ve reported anything on the book writing progress, so I suppose it’s time I do so. I just completed Chapter 11 of my Young adult novel, Jac and the City of 1,000 Worlds. The chapters are relatively short, around 7-10 pages each. I figured shorter chapters worked out best, for all reading levels. I’m finding the book has a very ‘cinematic’ feel about it; perhaps I’m subconsciously trying to pitch the film rights while working on it. Or it could be that I’ve watched too many friggin movies (I worked at a movie theater for 5-ish years) and have that in my mind.

So, I’m trudging along right now. I’m about 25-30% of the way through the book right now. that should put me in the neighborhood of 80-90 pages, by far the largest word count to date for any project of mine. I’ve mostly stuck to 300-4000 word short stories. I do have a nice library of partial stories, notes, and other odds and ends that make for a nice pile of “someday” novels. Needless to say, I am quite excited to be moving forward on Jac.

So it’s back to the keyboard grindstone for me. Jac just got rocked by an explosion and she’s about to meet a most handsome man and learn about the “troubles” that White Chapel Hill is currently experiencing.

And Sol is missing.
